As home design trends evolve, the formal dining room is one of the spaces many people are reconsidering. This poses the question, "is the formal dining room still a must-have or is it a relic of the past?"
I made an interesting video about the history of the formal dining room, it's origination and the peak-of-its-importance before it turned into an "extra" room we valued less and less.

For me, it was surprising to me that the formal dining room--which I have at my personal house--came in, well, near last. In my house, we eat together--my wife and two children--every morning and evening...but in the informal area. We save the formal dining for special occasions. In our house, it's an underutilized space, used just dozens of times in a single year, unlike other rooms that have a high utility need.
